If you’re like me, winter can really take its toll. By the time spring finally arrives, I’m desperate to enjoy the outdoors without piling on countless layers, ready for more social activities, and itching to let some crisp air flow through my home’s open windows.
Maybe you’re experiencing the same urge. Maybe you’re also feeling the need for a seasonal refresh—in your mindset, your social life, your daily habits, and especially your living space. Now that April is in full swing, it’s only natural to be drawn to this sense of renewal.
Here are eight simple and fast spring decor ideas to help you refresh your home for the new season.
Affordability is key here, with several ideas needing little to no spending and others that just call for some ingenuity. Try out one or two of these suggestions and see the difference for yourself!
1. Update your textiles.
Refreshing a few textiles is a quick way to transition your home into spring, offering both a visual update and enhanced comfort as temperatures rise.
Lightweight materials such as cotton and linen are perfect for the warmer months, and there are plenty of ways to introduce them into your space. Consider these options:

2. Let’s all agree: Bring in more plants!
Plants are a staple at W&D, cherished not just for their beauty but also for the sense of calm and joy that comes from nurturing them. With spring signaling a fresh growing season, now is the perfect opportunity to introduce a new plant companion—or a few—into your home.
If your indoor jungle is already at capacity, give your existing plants a little revival. Rearrange them to new spots that suit their lighting requirements, or transfer them to new pots if they’re ready for extra space and soil.
3. Refresh your rug selection.
A well-chosen rug can completely transform a room, anchoring and defining the space. While there’s no need to overhaul every rug with each season, you can still create a noticeable update for spring with these ideas:
- Switch rugs between rooms—perhaps place your living room rug in the bedroom and vice versa. This approach only costs a bit of effort and can offer a whole new vibe without spending any money.
- If you’re ready for a more subtle look, swap out a patterned rug for something neutral like jute or sisal. Kate’s favorite sisal rug is a great example!
- Try removing a rug for a lighter, airier look during the warmer months. If you’ve layered rugs, let the bottom layer stand out on its own for a season.
4. Introduce a new piece of art.
You definitely don’t have to overhaul your entire art collection each season, but adding one piece that evokes spring can make a meaningful difference. Whether you buy something from a local creator, discover a hidden gem secondhand, or make your own, there are countless ways to add a fresh visual focal point to your walls.
Once you have your new artwork, consider displaying it somewhere you pass by frequently to maximize the enjoyment it brings to your everyday routines.
