Ignore the headline numbers
Unmetered bandwidth and unlimited storage are not commitments, they are marketing positions constrained by a fair use clause you have not read. They tell you nothing about whether your site will be fast.
What to look at instead
Web server matters: LiteSpeed with its caching plugin outperforms plain Apache on WordPress at the same price. Resource limits matter more than disk: inode counts, concurrent processes and memory decide whether bulk operations succeed. Data centre location matters if your audience is not in the same region as the server.
The renewal question
Ask what year two costs before you buy year one. In budget hosting the renewal rate is frequently double or triple the intro rate, and it is the number you will actually live with.
What you are really buying at each tier
Cheap shared hosting buys you a working site. Mid-tier hosting buys you staging, backups and support that understands the stack. Managed hosting buys you someone else owning the problem. Decide which of those you are paying for, then compare only within that group.
A simple test before committing
Read the host’s own documentation on resource limits. If it is vague or hard to find, that is the answer. Hosts confident in their limits publish them clearly.
