Pipedream Pricing Explained for Automation Builders

Compare Pipedream’s Free, Startup, and Business options, understand usage credits and external-user charges, and estimate which plan fits development, production integrations, or higher-volume requirements.

pipedream pricing

Pipedream pricing for the current Connect product starts with a development-only Free plan. Production access begins with Startup at $150 per month when billed monthly or a $99 monthly equivalent when billed annually. Startup includes 100 external users and 10,000 monthly usage credits; additional users cost $2 each per month, and extra usage costs $0.012 per credit. Business uses an annual contract with volume pricing. These details were verified on October 7, 2026.

How Pipedream pricing works

Pipedream Connect combines subscription pricing with usage-based charges. The base plan determines whether an integration can run in production and supplies included allowances. Actual cost can then increase when production activity exceeds the plan’s 10,000 included monthly credits or 100 included external users.

Actions, MCP tool calls, proxy requests, and deployed-trigger events generally use one credit per 30 seconds of compute. A credit is therefore not automatically equivalent to an entire business workflow, one API call, or one event received by your application. A process that invokes several metered operations can consume more than one credit, while execution duration can also affect consumption.

Consider a typical integration path. A deployed trigger reports an event, the application validates and transforms its input, and then an action or authenticated proxy request updates another service. The deployed-trigger event and invoked Pipedream operations can affect credit usage. Application logic running in your own infrastructure is a separate resource and should not automatically be counted as Pipedream usage.

Pipedream’s charge also does not replace fees imposed by connected services. An API provider may require its own paid account or charge for requests, storage, messages, or other activity. Hosting, queues, databases, logging, and application monitoring remain separate costs as well.

Pipedream pricing comparison matrix

The available options serve three distinct stages: development, standard production use, and negotiated higher-volume deployment. Prices below are in USD. The annual Startup figure is a monthly equivalent, not a month-to-month payment option.

PlanPrice and billingIncluded access and usageAdditional chargesPractical fit
Free$0 with no credit card requiredOngoing development accessProduction access is not includedSolo developers and teams evaluating authentication, connectors, actions, and API integration logic before launch
Startup monthly$150 per month, billed monthlyProduction access, 100 external users, 10,000 monthly usage credits, and email support$2 per additional external user per month and $0.012 per additional creditProduction applications with predictable usage that need monthly billing flexibility
Startup annual$99 monthly equivalent, billed annuallyProduction access, 100 external users, 10,000 monthly usage credits, and email support$2 per additional external user per month and $0.012 per additional creditEstablished production implementations comfortable with an annual commitment

The annual Startup rate produces a derived base commitment of $1,188 for a year. Keeping the monthly-billed Startup plan for 12 months would produce a $1,800 base total. That comparison concerns the subscription price only; user overages, credit overages, connected-service bills, and other infrastructure costs can change the final total.

Choosing the right Pipedream plan

Use Free while validating an integration

Free is the appropriate starting point when you are proving that Pipedream can authenticate with the required services, expose the needed actions, receive relevant events, or reach a custom endpoint through the Connect proxy. It is not a path to a free production deployment.

A useful development success check is broader than establishing an OAuth connection. Confirm that your application associates the connection with the correct user, requests suitable permissions, validates returned data, invokes the intended operation, and handles an unsuccessful response safely.

Choose Startup for normal production access

Startup is the defined entry point for a production application. Choose monthly billing when flexibility is more important than the lower annual equivalent. Choose annual billing when the integration is established and the $1,188 base annual commitment fits your budget.

For a solo builder, internal team size alone is not the decisive measure. The allowance concerns external users of the integration, not a stated number of developer seats. Estimate how many external users will connect accounts and how much metered activity their integrations will generate.

Evaluate Business for higher volume

Business is the relevant option when expected activity makes negotiated volume pricing worthwhile or when the organization requires an annual commercial agreement. Because its price is customized, compare a quote against a realistic Startup forecast rather than assuming Business is cheaper at an arbitrary usage threshold.

A useful Pipedream pricing comparison should therefore model both dimensions independently: external users and usage credits. A small number of highly active users can create credit overages, while a large user base with light activity can exceed the user allowance first.

Illustrative monthly calculation

Suppose a monthly-billed Startup implementation records 12,000 credits and 125 external users in one month. This example is illustrative rather than a predicted bill.

  • Base subscription is $150.
  • Credit overage is 2,000 credits multiplied by $0.012, or $24.
  • User overage is 25 users multiplied by $2, or $50.
  • The resulting Pipedream total is $224 for that illustrative month.

This framework is more reliable than estimating cost from connector count. Replace the example values with expected user counts, operation frequency, and compute duration from your own application.

Costs and limits to check before upgrading

  • Separate development from production. Use development connections and test data to validate permissions, mappings, and failure handling. Upgrade before making Connect available in a production application.
  • Forecast every metered operation. Include action calls, MCP tool calls, proxy requests, and deployed-trigger events. Multi-step activity may involve several separately metered operations.
  • Allow for duration. These operations generally consume one credit per 30 seconds of compute, so volume alone does not describe every usage pattern.
  • Model failures and repeated work. If application retries invoke another metered operation, they can add usage. Use idempotency controls where duplicate actions could create repeated messages, records, or payments.
  • Track users and credits separately. Either allowance can create overage charges. Review both as usage grows rather than relying on a single total request count.
  • Budget for connected services. Check the account level, permissions, API limits, and separate charges imposed by every provider in the integration.
  • Maintain application-side observability. Connect does not retain API request payloads or response bodies. Your application may need appropriate diagnostic records, retention controls, and redaction so failures can be investigated without exposing sensitive data.

Also distinguish Connect from Pipedream’s legacy Workflows product. Workflows and String are in maintenance mode and scheduled to shut down on March 31, 2027, while Connect is unaffected. A new pricing decision should be based on the embedded Connect architecture rather than an assumption that the older visual workflow product represents the current offering.

A practical next step

Start on Free and validate one representative integration from authentication through a successful action or proxy request. Then estimate monthly external users and credits under normal, peak, and retry-heavy conditions. If Startup fits, compare the $150 monthly option with the $1,188 derived annual commitment. For materially higher volume, use the same forecast when requesting Business terms so the quote can be assessed against a concrete Startup baseline.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pipedream pricing

Is Pipedream free for production use?

No. Pipedream’s Free plan provides ongoing development access without requiring a credit card, but it does not include production access. A production Connect deployment requires Startup or Business access.

How does Pipedream measure usage?

Pipedream uses usage credits rather than treating every workflow run or third-party API call as an interchangeable billing unit. Actions, MCP tool calls, proxy requests, and deployed-trigger events generally consume one credit per 30 seconds of compute.

Can I pay for Pipedream Startup annually?

Yes. Startup is listed at a $99 monthly equivalent when billed annually, which produces a derived annual commitment of $1,188. The monthly-billed option is $150 per month. Both include 100 external users and 10,000 monthly usage credits.

Are connected API fees included in Pipedream pricing?

Pipedream pricing covers the Pipedream integration service and its metered usage. A connected provider may separately charge for its own subscription, API consumption, storage, messages, or other activity. Include those provider charges when estimating the full cost of an integration.
